Child abuse comes in many forms but they all have one thing in common, they can have negative effects on the victims that can last for their entire lives if not treated properly. We should all have some knowledge not only about the atrocious crimes that are being committed on a daily basis, but also what we can do to help the cause. Luckily, there are several organizations out there that are helping to raise awareness about child abuse, treating sufferers, and how these tragedies can be prevented in the first place. These institutions are providing extremely valuable resources to the communities all around the United States so it is important that we all take advantage of them.

The Child Abuse Prevention Agency (CAPA) is one of the organizations that is very dedicated to treating and preventing child abuse. Their website, ChildAbusePrevention.org is packed with information for all visitors to view. They have also developed educational programs so that people know what preventative measures are available to them. Right on the front page, it is stated that $100 toward education can save up to $3600 in treatment for a child that has been abused. If members of the public are able to see the warning signs of abuse, it will be much more difficult for criminals to claim children as victims. There are also hotlines available to report these crimes.

Along the same lines of child abuse prevention is the websitePCAND.org, a group that exclusively deals with education about abuse in the North Dakota area. PCAND has made it a point to teach parents how to take better care of their children, along with providing several programs that give participants a better understanding of what abused or neglected children go through. They are a not-for-profit group that has had a big part in making North Dakota a safer place for the state’s youth. Take a look at the website to find out more about the programs and education tools that they provide.

An organization that is primarily concerned with educating citizens about child abuse is Kids At Risk Action (KARA). Founder Mike Tikkanen has travelled all around the country to speak about child advocacy issues and has been to several hundred business, community, and religious organizations to perform as a keynote speaker. Visiting KARA’s website, InvisibleChildren.org, will give you a chance to find out more about Mike Tikkanen and this non-profit group, as well as how you might be able to get him to speak at a function in your area. Tikkanen has even written a book that shares its name with the website about what we can all do to help kids that have been put in situations that they are not fully prepared to deal with.

We also recently spoke with Carol Duncan from the Child Abuse Prevention Center. The methods that they use to help the country’s youth are pretty unique. Not only does this group help to educate parents and families about abuse, but they also help teenage parents to care for their own children and check back up on them periodically over a period of five years. Knowing that people care about them and their new family can really help teens to stay on the right track.Excap.org, their website, describes in detail all the services that the private non-profit organization provides.

All of these organizations are really doing a great thing for all the children in our country. It is very important that we all take advantage of these resources so that we can all know more about this problem that has been affecting so many people for so long. Do yourself and the youth of our nation a favor and find out more about these issues.

Abuse kills 58 children in Japan during in 2004

A research conducted by a Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry study panel released that in the year 2004 Japan registered almost 58 cases of children’s who were killed purely by abuse.

Out of all this child abuse cases, 5 of the cases were of siblings who were inhumanly killed: the rest 31 by their biological mother and behind 13 other cases it was their biological fathers.

The most shocking part of the story is that around 35 cases were not known by the child care agencies.

I NAMED HER SARAH BECAUSE SHE LOOK'S LIKE A SARAH..

My name is Sarah
I am 3 but
My eyes are swollen,
I cannot see
I must be stupid
I must be bad
what else could
make my daddy so
mad?
I wish i were better
I wish i werent ugly
Then maybe my
mommy would still
want to hug me
I cant speak at all
I cant do no
wrong
Or i'm locked up
all the day long
When i awake i'm
all alone
The house is dark
my folks arent home
When my mommy
does come
I'll try and be nice
and maybe i'll get just
one whipping tonight
Dont make a
sound
I just heard a car
My daddy is back
from Charlie's Bar
I hear him curse
my name he calls
I press myself
against the wall
I try and hide
From his evil eyes
I'm so afraid now
I'm starting to cry
He finds me weeping
He shouts ugly words
He says its my fault
he suffers at work
He slaps me and hits
me
And yells at me more
I finally get free
I run for the door
He's already locked it
I start to bawl
He fakes me and
throws me
Against the hard wall
I fall to the floor
with bones nearly
broken
My daddy continues
with more bad words
spoken
I'm sorry I scream
But now its to late
His face had been
twisted
Into unimaginable hate
The hurt the pain
Again and again
Oh god have mercy
Oh please let it
end
And he finally stops
He heads for the door
I lay there motionless
sprawled on the floor
My name is Sarah
I am 3 but
Today my daddy
MURDERED ME

THE STORY ABOUT MR.L.AHANNA

a) Are you someone who normally listens to music while studying? Why or why not?

i say yes because when people try to talk to me i don't listen to them but to me it don't affect me when i'm doing work.

b) During the Techbrarian Distraction Test was there any type of music that distracted you? If so, explain why.

yes at part 4 because there where like people talk and singing at the same time but it didn't distract me that much.

c) Did you feel like your follow-up quiz results were accurate? Why or why not?

well the quiz got messed up so some of us did not get to do the quiz but what i had did so fair i think i did really good.

*** EXTRA CREDIT (10 POINTS!) : Explain at least three ways you would have changed the Techbrarian

Distraction Test. Describe how each change might effect the results. For example, what would have happened if I added math problems instead of a story about Catin?

well i think i could had put harder music to distract people like harder bet's on stuff like that.
